Qatar recognized the independence of Kosovo
Qatar has recognized Kosovo’s independence from Serbia, becoming the 73rd country to do so, Kosovan Deputy Foreign Minister Vlora Citaku says in a statement, www.focus-fen.net reports citing RIA Novosti.
The authorities in Qatar promised to recognize Kosovo’s independence in September 2010 when Kosovan Prime Minister Hashim Thaci arrived on a visit to Doha.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has notified the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo through a note verbale that the Emirate of Qatar has decided to recognize the independence of the Republic of Kosovo on January 4, 2011.
State of Qatar or locally Dawlat Qaṭar, is an Arab country in the Middle East, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeasterly coast of the much larger Arabian Peninsula. Qatar is an oil- and gas-rich nation, with the third largest gas reserves, and the first or second highest GDP per capital in the world.
