Azerbaijani-Armenians: Pogrom-makers buried in Baku Shahid Park
The organizing committee of the Congress of Plenipotentiaries of Azerbaijani-Armenians has written a letter to the Russian State Duma and to all states having diplomatic relations with Armenia, committee members told a news conference in Yerevan. The letter says that when visiting Baku, foreign officials, as part of the protocol, lay wreaths in the Shahid Park in Baku, to the graves of people “who were killed for Azerbaijan’s liberty and independence,” while pogrom-makers who slaughtered Armenians in 1990 January in Baku and those who fought against the Soviet army are buried in the Park.
According to committee member Roman Gyulbandyan, they have asked the Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office, Russian authorities to provide them with documents on the massacres of Armenians.
“Combining our efforts, we will lead the case to the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” he said.
Organizing committee member, Chairman of the Greeks of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh NGO, Eduard Polatov said that Azerbaijan also buried 3 Russians in the Shahid Park to demonstrate that pogrom-makers belonged to different nationalities. While Russian archive documents testify that those Russians were killed just by Azerbaijanis. First there were over 70 graves in the Park, later their number reached over 137, of which 1 is unknown.
According to committee member Mariam Avagyan, “the issue of Shahid Park should be submitted for international investigation, and we ask and demand it from the other states. They need to reconsider their protocols.”
