Kazimirov: Azerbaijan conceals agreement of 1995
Slow progress can be observed in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process, according to Ambassador Vladimir Kazimirov, former co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.
“The Nagorno Karabakh conflict requires inexhaustible patience,” Kazimirov said during a Yerevan-Moscow TV space bridge on January 25 on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
According to the diplomat, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict can be settled if only the negotiation process bypasses the extremeties in the positions of the sides.
He stressed importance of liquidating the formulations that emerged after signing truce. In Kazimirov’s opinion, the sides should come back to the realities of the situation when the truce was signed. He noted that all statements about the necessity of documental reinforcement of the truce make no logical sense since the Defense Ministers of Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan already signed such an agreement on February 4, 1995.
“It is surprising that the signed agreement is never fulfilled. Yerevan and Stepanakert have always reminded of that document while Baku has chosen a unique variant – absolute concealment of the agreement, though in Astana Azerbaijan’s President mentioned the necessity of signing a relevant agreement. If there is such document, if it has been signed by the Defense Ministers of the three sides, approved by the heads of the states, it should be fulfilled, especially in a strained situation,” Kazimirov said.
The Ambassador emphasized that the process of settlement needs to be freed from falsehood distorting its essence.
