“Jewish community ready to become tribune for Armenia”
“The Jewish community in Armenia is ready to become a tribune for Armenia and to present all the problems and dispositions of the country in the international arenas,” Rima Varzhapetyan told today a press conference mentioning that the community is actively involved in the process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Israel.
“We have applied to Knesset in Israel for many times and have asked them to recognize the Genocide. We believe that denial of any Genocide is a crime against the humanity,” she said.
R. Varzhapetyan spoke also about the support shown by the Armenian authorities. She mentioned that during this year in Vayots Dzor will be opened a Jewish ethnological museum based on the archeological museum where will be presented materials connected with medieval Jewish community in Yeghegis and its cemetery. The speaker expressed his gratitude to the Diocese of Syunik of the Armenian Apostolic Church for supporting the foundation of the museum.
