Only way is to hold referendum in Nagorno Karabakh

The commitments of the sides on non-resumption of military operations are very important for the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in his interview to the Ekho Moskvy Russian radio station.

Head of state noted that over the past one or two years talks about war, about resumption of military operations have become common, and it is very bad since if one speaks about some problem long and confidently, he gets convinced of the truth of his words at some moment.

“And if there are abilities, there is also a great temptation. But I am sure we can avoid war,” President said. “I am sure that the only way to settle the conflict is the peaceful way, and the only method is to hold a referendum in Nagorno Karabakh or to recognize the results of the referendum that was held in 1991 in line with the Soviet Union legislation and the international law. The issue can be solved through a compromise only.”
