L. Alaverdyan says state administration poor in Armenia

Member of the Heritage parliamentary faction, former Ombudsperson of Armenia Larisa Alaverdyan at a press conference on February 4 touched upon government activities calling them poor.

“Government policy results in increase in emigration, worsening of demographic picture, people’s poverty, modest economic growth which even does not reach the level of 2001 or 2003,” she said.

Alaverdyan noted that political democracy can be ensured only through economic democracy. A person living on the verge of poverty can never hold free and fair elections.

“Thus we can say that state administration constantly worsens in Armenia, we never have economic diversification. Only some small groups benefit from progress in high technologies,” the parliamentarian said.

She stressed that radical and systemic reforms are needed to improve the situation.
