Three former Egypt ministers arrested over corruption allegations
Authorities in Egypt have arrested three former ministers of the ousted Mubarak regime and a business tycoon in connection with an investigation into allegations of corruption and misuse of public funds, officials said Thursday, according to RTTNews.
The four arrested Thursday included former interior minister Habib el-Adly, ex-tourism minister Zuhair Garana, former housing minister Ahmed al-Maghrabi and steel tycoon Ahmed Ezz, who was once senior leader in Mubarak's National Democratic Party.
All the four arrested Thursday have denied any wrongdoings. Allegations leveled against them range from money laundering to abuse of authority and squandering state wealth. They have been ordered to be held under custody for 15 days.
