Price level in Armenia higher than in Europe
Food prices went up 17.1 percent in Armenia in 2010, ex-President of the Central Bank of Armenia Bagrat Asatryan told a news conference.
According to the expert, vegetable, fruit, meat prices in Armenia are 1.5-2 times higher than in Europe.
“Armenian food prices set record. Even local apple prices are 1.5 times higher than prices for imported apples. Grain, granulated sugar, vegetable oil prices went up two-fold in Armenia, while in Europe they increased only 1.5-3.5 percent, and drinking water tariffs are two-fold lower in Europe,” B. Asatryan said.
