Manoyan: Activation of NK settlement process aims to restrain war
ARF Political Director Giro Manoyan considers that activation of the Nagorno Karabakh settlement process aims to restrain possible resumption of war.
“Probability of war is low, nevertheless, taking into consideration Baku’s bellicose statements and provocations, war may break out suddenly,” he said.
In his words, formerly the international community did not try to prevent Baku’s attempts to change the balance of forces which enabled Azerbaijan to act so. In Manoyan’s words, Armenian President’s visit to Russia and U.S. high ranking diplomat’s visit to Armenia aim to prevent possible war.
The expert noted that Armenia needs to toughen its position at the negotiations and declare Nagorno Karabakh’s direct participation in the talks.
“We also need to initiate recognition of Nagorno Karabakh. It doesn’t contradict the negotiations since one of the three principles is expression of the people's will.”
