Madagascar President survives assassination attempt
The authorities in Madagascar said on Thursday that the country’s President, Andri Radjoelin, had narrowly survived an assassination attempt.
A bomb went off under his car hurting no one. The presidential motorcade sped up and safely reached its destination.
The political crisis on the island geared up in January 2009 when thousands rallied in the capital Antananarivu demanding the ouster of the authoritarian President Mark Rawalomanana. Around 70 people died when police waded in force to break up the protesting crowds, The Voice of Russia reports.
