Bako Sahakyan lays wreath at monument to Komitas in Paris
On March 6, President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan arrived in Paris on a working visit.
On the same day the Head of the State visited St. John the Baptist Cathedral and attended the sacred ceremony held there. Afterwards the President met Primate of the French Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Norvan Zakaryan.
Issues related to the Motherland-Diaspora relations as well as domestic and foreign policy of Artsakh were discussed during the meeting.
Bako Sahakyan highly assessed the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in maintaining national identity in the Diaspora and strengthening ties with the Motherland.
After the meeting the President laid a wreath at the monument to Komitas in the center of Paris.
On the same day the President met members of the “Support to Karabakh” Union board and discussed issues related to the cooperation with the organization.
The President considered important and demanded the active participation of different organizations from the Diaspora in developing Artsakh in the context of strengthening the inter-Armenian ties.
The meetings were attended by Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to France Vigen Chitechyan, NKR Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs Narine Aghabalyan, Head of the Central Information Department of the Artsakh Republic President’s Office David Babayan, NKR Permanent Representative to France Hovhannes Gevorgyan and other officials, Artsakh President’s press office reports.
