President: Armenia ready to sign general agreement
We are committed to peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within OSCE Minsk Group, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan told a joint press conference with his Latvian counterpart Valdis Zatlers in Riga.
President Sargsyan stated that he discussed regional security issues with Zatlers and in that context reconfirmed Armenian side’s position on the Nagorno Karabakh settlement.
Asked what the Armenian side does so as not to allow further aggravation of the situation the Armenian President noted: “Armenia has always declared readiness for peaceful compromised settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. OSCE Minsk Group coordinates these activities. The Co-chair countries have long been seeking to find the best solutions with the two sides.”
Reminding that as far back as in 2007 the Co-chairs offered settlement based on three principles – self-determination of peoples, territorial integrity, non-use of force or threat of force, President Sargsyan said: “Armenia is ready to follow these principles and sign a general agreement.”
