Armenia, Georgia sign Memorandum of Cooperation
Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Yerevan today.
M. Vardanyan noted that during the meeting with his Georgian counterpart he had discussed bilateral cooperation, road building issues.
“Financial organizations study project solutions, roads being built in Armenia and Georgia. These are regional projects. We have also discussed construction of North-South road corridor,” M. Vardanyan said.
He said that road building projects will be implemented in four directions – Bavra, North-South, Sevan, and Aparan-Vanadzor-Alaverdi. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. The building company will be unveiled in an international tender. And an Armenian delegation will visit Georgia on March 21-22.
In return, R. Nikolaishvili said that a new road to Poti will considerably reduce the distance between Armenia and the Black Sea resorts.
He stressed the importance of restoration of the Verin Lars road.
“This road is very important for both Armenia and Georgia,” the Georgian Minister said.
