Azerbaijani army violates ceasefire over 200 times
“Against the agreement on further strengthening mutual confidence between the sides of the conflict reached at the tripartite presidential meeting in Sochi on March 5, the Azerbaijani side continues aggravating the military and political tension in the region by making provocations. Last week Azerbaijan’s army violated ceasefire over 200 times firing more than 1,300 shots at the Armenian defensive posts. Most intensive ceasefire violations were recorded on March 17 and 18 when the Armenian side sustained a casualty,” NKR Defense Army reported.
The source reminds that soldier of NKR Defense Army Aharon Hayrapetyan, 20, was deadly injured by Azerbaijani army fire on March 17, at 05:30pm at a defensive post dislocated east of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact line (Askeran). The soldier was rushed to military hospital where he died at 06:59pm.
“The Azerbaijani army made a recurrent aggressive operation only an hour after the captive exchange secured by the tripartite presidential meeting in Sochi on March 5, and almost in the same place, which testifies that the Azerbaijani side does not respect ceasefire, moreover, it tries to deliberately evade any mission towards peaceful settlement of the conflict. Certainly, this circumstance should get a worthy response by the international organizations dealing with the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict,” NKR Defense Army said.
