Levon Aronian beats world champion
Levon Aronian beat Boris Gelfand in the blindfold game and drew with him the rapid game in Round 7 at Amber Rapid and Blindfold Chess Tournament in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He played with world champion Viswanathan Anand in Round 8. The blindfold game ended in a draw and Aronian beat Anand in rapid game.
So, after Round 8 Aronian leads the table with 6 points in blindfold games and comes second in rapid games with 5.5 points. Magnus Carlsen comes first in rapid games with 6.5 points.
Levon Aronyan keeps leading the table with combined results. He has scored 11.5 points. Carsen has scored 11 points and comes second. Viswanathan Anand comes third with 8.5 points. Vassily Ivanchuk also has 8.5 points.
March 21 is a rest day in the tournament. Aronian will play with Vladimir Kramnik on March 22.
