Magnitude 5.9 quake shakes central, south Taiwan
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake rocked central and southern Taiwan at 4: 00 p.m. Sunday, sending people running into the streets, but no casualties were reported, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
The epicenter of the quake was 45.3 km southeast of the Taitung Country government building, at a depth of 16.3 km, the CWB said.
In the offshore Green Island Township of Taitung County, where the intensity of the quake was recorded at 4, there were no reports of casualties or damage, the bureau said.
