Libyan rebels enter Adjdabia
Libyan rebel militias on Friday night entered the city Adjdabia, in the east of the country, ITAR-TASS reports citing Qatari television channel Al-Jazeera.
This small town is considered the main outpost of the Opposition in the way of the government troops to the city of Benghazi - the center of an armed uprising against the regime. It has repeatedly changed hands to be interchangeably controlled by the advancing troops of Gaddafi and rebel forces. In recent days, due to air strikes by the western coalition the offensive of the troops loyal to the Libyan leader was stalled. Gaddafi's troops lost many tanks and armored personnel carriers. One plane was destroyed on the ground as a result of an attack by a French fighter.
On Friday, according to Arab television channels, Gaddafi’s forces continued to advance towards the city of Misurata, located 200 kilometers east of Tripoli. The rebels say that the shelling killed six people, including three children. They claim that ten tanks of Gaddafi’s forces reached the city center and opened fire on residential areas. This information is not confirmed by other sources.
