UN chief urges restraint by Syrian leader
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on Friday for "maximum restraint" by Syria, in a telephone call with President Bashar al-Assad, whose forces have killed dozens of pro-democracy demonstrators, Reuters reported.
Ban "urged maximum restraint by the authorities and expressed his hope in a meaningful response to the expression of legitimate concerns," the statement said.
