Kosovo elects new President
Kosovo's parliament on Thursday has elected Atifete Jahjaga as the region’s new President, ITAR-TASS said.
The 35-year-old Jahjaga is the first woman to head the state and its third President since the territory seceded from Serbia in 2008.
Atifete Jahjaga was supported by 80 members of parliament. Ten MPs voted for Suzana Novobrdalia, and another ten abstained from voting.
Mrs. Jahjaga’s election comes shortly after the Kosovo Constitutional Court ruled that Behgjet Pacolli's February election win had breached the constitution.
