Actions of Gbagbo's forces unacceptable - Ban Ki-moon
Though the camp of former Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo claimed that they had initiated negotiations to end the crisis peacefully and ordered their forces to lay down their arms, they have resumed attacks using heavy weapons against the civilian population, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said, according to Interfax.
“These actions are unacceptable and cannot continue. The continued use of heavy weapons against the civilian population and our peacekeepers, as well as the attack against the Headquarters of the legitimate Government, have compelled me, once again, to instruct UNOCI to use all necessary means to prevent the use of these weapons,” Ban Ki-moon said in a statement.
