Nabucco startup delayed for two years
The startup of the Nabucco gas pipeline running from Central Asia and the Caspian region to Europe in evasion of Russia is delayed for two years, until 2017, Nabucco Consortium head Reinhard Mitschek said on Friday.
“Construction is envisaged to commence in 2013... We now expect first gas to flow through the pipeline in 2017,” Mitschek said in a statement. “The timeline had changed as a direct result of the changes in the timing for gas supplies in the Caspian and Middle East regions, as announced by potential suppliers.”
The Nabucco rated capacity is 31 billion cubic meters of gas per year, but there are still no contracts with gas suppliers, ITAR-TASS reported.
