Medvedev keeps Russia guessing on next presidential election
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday it was too early to announce whether he will run in next year's presidential election but promised a decision soon, Reuters reported.
Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the mentor who steered him into the Kremlin in 2008, have suggested one of them will run for a six-year term as president next March but have kept the nation guessing with less than a year remaining.
A majority of Russians still regard Putin as the country's paramount leader.
According to rumors, Medvedev might dismiss Putin's government.
Medvedev declined direct comment on this but said: "No one comes to power forever. People who have such illusions usually end badly."
