Strauss-Kahn tastes freedom under house arrest
Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been freed from New York's Rikers Island jail, trading a jumpsuit for civilian clothes and an isolated cell for an apartment with visits from family and friends.
The release under house arrest of the former IMF chief, who is facing trial for the alleged sexual assault and attempted rape of a hotel maid, was approved by a judge after lawyers posted bail and bond of $6 million.
Police confirmed to AFP that he had arrived late Friday at the New York building where he will be under house arrest after leaving Rikers.
He will be under constant surveillance of the private security firm Stroz Friedberg at the secure building, at the south end of Broadway near Ground Zero.
