Armenia adopts program to boost IT sector
Today the Armenian government has approved a program to boost IT sector for 2011.
According to Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan, the government focuses attention on IT sector, use of IT products in various branches of economy, formation of IT Society. IT industry was ranked as the most important branch of economy in Armenia as early as in December 2000.
IT sector’s total revenues amounted to AMD 55.1 billion in 2010. 197 IT companies work in Armenia, out of them, 72 are foreign, which occupy nearly 37 percent of the market. Around 39 percent of IT products are exported to more than 20 countries.
Nevertheless, currently, the results of IT sector in Armenia are not ranked as significant in the context of the international market.
