Nino Burjanadze’s son detained
Georgian opposition leader Nino Burjanadze’s son, Anzor Bitsadze has been detained in Tbilisi.
According to Novosti Gruzia, Bitsadze and his mother went to the Republican Hospital to visit people injured during the protest actions in Rustaveli Avenue. Anzor was detained together with Burjanadze’s bodyguards.
Georgian sources do not officially confirm this information.
RIA Novosti reported that police have cordoned off Rustaveli Avenue, which will host a military parade today dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia.
Hundreds of people have been detained during the opposition rallies in Tbilisi. RIA-Novosti’s reporter was among them.
The Georgian Interior Ministry said 19 were injured and a police officer was killed when he was run over by an opposition leader’s car. According to the Georgian media, the car was driven by Nino Burjanadze’s husband.
Burjanadze refuted the report and said she didn’t know her husband’s location.
