Amnesty: 267 convicts released
The process of releasing convicts by amnesty granted on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia Independence started at the Penitentiary Service of the Armenian Ministry of Justice on May 27, 2011. 267 convicts were released from the Ministry of Justice penitentiary institutions as of May 28, 00:30 am.
The number of released convicts is given according to penitentiary institutions:
Nubarashen – 27
Erebuni – 70
Vardashen – 25
Convicts’ Hospital – 14
Yerevan Kentron – 0 (no convicts subject to parole)
Artik – 33
Vanadzor – 8
Sevan – 21
Hrazdan – 16
Abovyan – 1
Goris – 11
Kosh – 41
The process of releasing convicts by amnesty continues. The press office of the Penitentiary Department will periodically release information about the number of released convicts.
The Ministry of Justice report does not mention convicts’ names or any other details.
