Agriculture: Hail damages the crop

The chief expert of Vayots Dzor region’s municipality staff Bagrat Margaryan told the interview given to Aysor.am that because of the rains that lasted long stone-fruit like apricot, peach trees suffered. The damage is 652 mln 325 thousand AMD. 13 communities suffered from the hail. The total damage is 863 mln 466 thousand AMD.

The Hail has damaged also the grape fields of the region as well. The crop in Aghvanadzor will be less this year, not 2 thousand tones as it was expected.

He also mentioned that if it rains again there will be new changes in the crop expectations.

“There is no anti-hail station in the region, but it is planned to be installed,” Bagrat Margaryan said.

On June 7 the hail hit also Talin region. One of the witnesses said the hail was bigger than usually and lasted for 10 minutes. It should be noted that there were damages also in regions and communities were anti-hail stations were installed.
