Moscow hopes for progress in Kazan meeting
The meeting between the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents on June 24 in Kazan is expected to be a turning point in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Russian MFA said in a statement.
“We expect Baku and Yerevan to respond constructively to the joint statement issued by the presidents of OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, Russia, United States and France, on May 26, 2011 in Deauville. The statement called on the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia to show political will and to complete the discussion of the draft Basic Principles of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the document to be discussed in Kazan is result of a significant period of joint work between the sides and the co-chair countries; it gives real grounds for further advancement and preparation of the comprehensive peace agreement.
“We are hopeful that basing on this the sides will come to an agreement for the sake of peace, prosperity and development of the entire region.”
