4 bomb-blasts in an hour in Baghdad
Four bombs ripped through Shiite neighborhoods in Baghdad this evening, killing at least 40 people. More than 80 others were injured, the Associated Press reports.
The first three bombs went off in quick succession. One targeted a Shiite mosque, while another exploded outside a popular market and the third went off inside the market where people were doing their evening shopping ahead of the Muslim weekend.
In a separate attack, an American civilian working with an implementing partner of the U.S. Agency for International Development was killed. Three other civilians were wounded. Iraqi police say a bomb exploded near foreign security company vehicles traveling through eastern Baghdad, the source reports.
