NASDAQ OMX Armenia Participated in International Economic Forum
On June 16-18, 2011 Mr. Karen Zakaryan, Acting CEO of NASDAQ OMX Armenia, participated in Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum, being the only speaker from Armenia.
During the session moderated by Yuri Solovyov, President and Global Chief Executive Officer, VTB Capital, Karen Zakaryan, Ruben Aganbegyan, President, MICEX, Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Daniyar Akishev, Deputy Chairman, National Bank of Kazakhstan and other high level representatives discussed regional framework agreements such as the Common Economic Space and regulations pertaining to the CIS and EurAsEc. Karen Zakaryan spoke about the Armenian capital market integration experience, highlighting the steps that should be taken when embarking on such a project.
Mr. Zakaryan stated that prior to regional and global integration, local integration of depository and exchange space is necessary, which was done and continuously supported in Armenia. The next step after creation of single exchange and depository environment inside the country is to make it absolutely efficient both in terms of internal efficiency and quality of services provided to customers. Afterwards the next step is to create terms and conditions of services comfortable and customer oriented to international players.
Mr. Zakaryan also informed that in October, 2011 Yerevan will host an international conference titled “Global Opportunities of Local Markets: Infrastructure and Regulation”, where all aspects of capital market integration and prospects will be featured.
