Russia sends humanitarian aid to Libya
Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry has sent humanitarian aid to Libya, Ministry’s information department said on Wednesday, ITAR-TASS reported.
“At 09:00 Moscow time from the Moscow Region’s airport of Ramenskoye the EMERCOM’s Il-76 with the cargo of humanitarian aid left for Benghazi,” the source said.
The weight of cargo on board amounts to 36 tons.
“The aid is provided under the order of Russia’s President and in compliance with the Russian Federation’s governmental order,” the source said.
Earlier, spokesman of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Alexander Lukashevich said that “the protracted armed conflict in Libya has caused a dramatic degradation of the country’s humanitarian situation, and Moscow is concerned about it.”
