Protest in support of photographers accused of spying for Russia
At least 100 Georgian journalists, opposition politicians and members of NGOs gathered in front of the Georgian parliament late on Tuesday. The protesters were demanding that the Georgian authorities declassify cases of photo correspondents detained last week on charges of espionage and present any evidence of their guilt to the public.
On July 11, Georgian journalists had held another action outside the Interior Ministry of Georgia demanding a meeting with the Minister.
Three of the four photo correspondents, who are accused of spying for Russia, are to remain under arrest for the period of the investigation. Another correspondent has been released on about US$ 6,000 bail, RT News reported.
