Sixteen people were killed in a plane crash in Brazil
Sixteen people were killed in a plane crash Wednesday morning in Recife, Brazil, the country's air force said, the CNN reports.
The twin engine Let L-410 aircraft, operated by Noar Airlines, took off from the Recife airport at about 6:50 a.m. (5:50 a.m. ET), the Brazilian air force said in a statement.
Brazil's Air Force says the pilot reported problems almost immediately and tried to make an emergency landing on a beach. The plane crashed and burst into flames, the voice of America reports. A fire official is quoted in local media as saying the pilot averted an even bigger disaster, narrowly avoiding a densely populated area.
