Chavez says illness ‘not serious’
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday that he's improving after undergoing a second round of chemotherapy in Cuba to treat his cancer, and boasted that he's never felt healthier.
The socialist leader, who returned from Cuba on Saturday, said he doesn't know yet if he will need a third round of chemotherapy.
"I'm doing very well. In fact, I've never been better," Chavez told journalists.
"It's not serious," he said of his illness.
He added that "I don't have metastasis," the medical term for the spread of cancer from one organ to another.
Chavez underwent surgery in Cuba in June to remove a cancerous tumor. He has said the tumor was located in the pelvic region but has not disclosed what type of cancer was found. He gave no further details Tuesday, AP reported.
