Israeli air force targets Hamas compounds
Israeli aircraft struck seven Hamas security installations in Gaza early Friday morning, killing at least one Palestinian, in further retaliation for attacks along the Egyptian border in which eight Israelis died, Reuters reported.
Gaza residents said three compounds controlled by the Hamas Islamist group that rules the enclave were hit in the overnight raids. Medical officials said a 13-year-old boy in a nearby building was killed and 17 people were injured. There was no immediate word on casualties among militants.
