Russia says Gaddafi assets should be spent on humanitarian needs
Moscow warns against misspending Muammar Gaddafi’s foreign assets, Russia’s permanent envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Tuesday, the Voice of Russia reported.
The assets should only be spent on humanitarian needs, he said, adding that the financial aid should be depoliticized and rendered to the whole of Libyan population.
Late last week, the UN Security Council agreed to release 1.5 billion dollars in Gaddafi assets to help deal with humanitarian issues in Libya.
