Independence through eyes of women parliamentarians
Women parliamentarians expressed their views on independent Armenia at a meeting with reporters in Yerevan.
Member of the parliamentary faction of the Republican Party of Armenia Karine Achemyan noted that 10 years ago Armenia was a different country and must become quite different in another 10 years. According to her, Armenia-Diaspora-Artsakh trinity should be inviolable.
Member of the Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan said: “We should realize that unless we are democratic and have a civil society, we will link all our difficulties and challenges with Armenia’s being a transitional democracy.”
According to the parliamentarian, “there are many unsolved problems at present.”
“Nevertheless, I am convinced that independence is a value citizens would vote for again. Democracy is the only resource of a powerful and independent country.”
In return, member of the Country of Law party Heghine Bisharyan said that our army was established as a result of independence.
“It is very important that we have independence generation. We should keep at a high level our army, flag, national anthem, religion, and education,” Bisharyan said. Independent Armenia’s future depends on every Armenian, according to her.
