Obama, Erdogan agreed to increase pressure on Assad
The two leaders discussed Syria, where President Bashar al-Assad's unrelenting crackdown on anti-government protests has alarmed neighboring Turkey and led to U.S. calls he step aside.
Obama and Erdogan agreed on the need to increase pressure on Assad and agreed to consult on possible further steps that "could include sanctions, political pressure, other measures," Rhodes said, the Reuters reports.
