Serzh Sargsyan visits Armenian Genocide Monument in Montebello
President Serzh Sargsyan, who is paying a working visit to the United States, left New York for Los Angeles on September 24. He visited the city of Montebello, the neighboring city just east of Los Angeles, an Aysor.am correspondent reported.
Serzh Sargsyan laid a wreath at Montebello Armenian Genocide Monument and planted a tree in the memorial park.
Montebello Mayor Art Barajas said Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to their community is a great honor to them.
“Montebello marks its 90th anniversary and the Armenian community has always played an important role and has made a great contribution to the development of our community,” he said.
Montebello Mayor noted that it is an honor for them to have Armenian Genocide Monument.
“I hope the world will recognize the Armenian Genocide and further genocides will be prevented this way, otherwise they can reoccur in the future.”
Art Barajas congratulated the Armenian President and people on the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence and handed over a memorandum to Serzh Sargsyan.
In return, the Armenian President expressed his thanks for the good wishes and expressed his gratitude to the United States for hosting Armenians and giving them the opportunity of working and making progress.
