US CIA attacked in Kabul
A compound in Kabul used by the US's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) came under attack on Sunday, officials said, the latest in a series of assaults in the Afghan capital, hindustantimes.com said.
Afghan interior ministry spokesman Siddiq Siddiqui said police had heard "a couple of minutes" of gunfire from inside the Ariana Hotel compound at around 9.15pm (1645 GMT).
There was no immediate word on casualties, the Voice of America said.
A U.S. official in Washington confirmed there was an attack on a facility used by American officials in Kabul, saying the investigation was ongoing.
The NATO-led coalition in Kabul confirmed there was gunfire near the hotel but did not provide further details.
