Two typhoons kill 60 in Philippines
Floodwaters are slowly receding in many parts of the Philippines after two typhoons that killed nearly 60 people, The Associated Press reported.
Some people are still stranded on rooftops and local officials are appealing for more rescuers and boats to bring them down.
Mayor James de Jesus of worst-hit Calumpit town north of Manila said Monday that at least 15 villages were still inaccessible.
He says evacuation centers are crowded and cannot accommodate any more families.
At least 59 people were killed by two typhoons that hit the northern Philippines days apart last week. Typhoon Nalgae killed at least three people Saturday. It is headed for China's Hainan Island and central Vietnam.
