Azerbaijan blacklists California Senator Joseph Simitian
The Azerbaijani MFA has blacklisted member of the California State Senate Joseph Simitian for visiting Nagorno-Karabakh without the permission of the Azerbaijani government.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev told Trend on Monday that before visiting Armenia, Simitian held meetings in Azerbaijan but showed disrespect to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and also did not inform the relevant structures of Azerbaijan and without getting permission, paid a visit to Nagorno-Karabakh. Therefore, a decision has been made on blacklisting Simitian.
“Azerbaijan holds a firm stance in this issue: those who show disrespect to Azerbaijan and its laws will further be blacklisted. It is a rude violation of country’s laws,” Abdullayev said.
He said the person who makes laws and is a member of the law-making body of California must not break laws.
