Masoud Barzani donates $1 million to Turkey
The Kurdistan Regional Administration has donated $1 million to the Turkish Red Crescent’s relief efforts following a devastating earthquake in the eastern province of Van on Oct. 23.
Officials from the administration visited the Turkish Consulate General in Arbil yesterday to offer condolences to Turkey and present the monetary donation, the foreign media reports.
The regional administration’s deputy prime minister, Azad Perwari, and several other officials expressed sadness over the Oct. 23 earthquake that has killed at least 366 people.
“We can never forget Turkey’s assistance to Iraqi Kurds in the late 1980s and early 1990s. We are in the process of sending aid materials to Van. We will deposit $1 million at a Turkish bank in Arbil as assistance on behalf of our regional leader, Masoud Barzani,” Perwari said.
