Ortega leading in presidential election
Early results Monday in Nicaragua’s presidential election showed President Daniel Ortega leading with 63 per cent of votes, the bostonherald.com reports.
Fabio Gadea, a radio personality leading an alliance of rightists and dissident Sandinistas, was polling 29 percent to 6 percent for liberal former president Arnoldo Aleman, with 18 percent of polling stations reporting, election officials said.
Opposition demonstrators clashed with government forces in Nicaragua as polls closed in Sunday’s general election.
