Almazbek Atambaev - new Kyrgyz President
Kyrgyz President-elect Almazbek Atambaev will continue working as prime minister until his inauguration as president, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.
Atambaev temporarily stepped down as prime minister in September when the election campaign began, as required by law.
Atambayev garnered 62.52 percent of votes, way ahead of the second-placed leader of the United Kyrgyzstan party Adakhan Madumarov, who ended up with just 14,78 percent.
The inauguration of the Atambayev – the country’s first democratically elected head of state - is scheduled to be held before December 20, the sources report.
