Pressures against Azerbaijani journalists remains unpunished
Thec the recent murder in Baku of journalist Rafiq Tagi.
“Like all murders, this reprehensible crime requires justice,” US Embassy in Baku states. “This intensifies the urgency of solving this crime in order to ensure freedom of the media and of expression on all subjects. Such freedoms are essential parts of every healthy democratic system.”
The “Zerkalo” reports that Emin Huseynov has noticed in the interview given to “Objectiv TV” that ,“Rafiq Tagi’s death was a blow not only for the Azerbaijani rating but also for the security of the civil society.”
The source then reports that “Unfortunately there are stiff stereotypes in the society proving that the pressure on the journalists remains unpunished.”
“Thus who has killed Rafiq Tagi? Was that Iran?” Turan news agency wonders.
“Maybe those who wish to start a conflict between Iran and Azerbaijan. Unfortunately all those questions remain unanswered. One thing is clear however, the writer has become a victim of political eccentricity. But I am sure this will not be the last case till the principle of being not punished is actual,” the statement reads.
