Serj Smesov: “EU will keep an eye on the elections”

“One of the key issues of the Neighborhood policy is the unequal approach of the EU partner countries, that is to say the countries making more reforms will get more aid from the EU. In this regard the EU attaches importance to the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections. They will be in the focus of the EU’s attention; we will keep an eye on the elections,” said EU expert, French ambassador in Eastern partnership and Black Sea region affairs Serj Smesov.

He assured that the new special representative of the EU will have its part in the stability of the South Caucasus and the development of the relations with the EU.

Touching upon NKR issue S. Smesov said the EU is ready to contribute in the peaceful settlement of NKR issue, to help the conflicting sides to find concessions. “EU is ready to contribute the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs,” S. Smesov stressed.
