B. Sahakyan visited Argentinean Council on Foreign Relations
On 2 December President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan visited Argentinean Council on Foreign Relations (CARI) located in capital Buenos Aires and delivered there a lecture.
The Head of the State touched upon the Artsakh-Argentina relations, state building in the NKR, domestic and foreign policy of our country, the Azerbaijani-Karabagh conflict settlement and regional trends.
President Sahakyan noted that Latin America direction occupies special place in the NKR’s foreign policy agenda, which is stipulated both by large Armenian community living there and by the growing importance of the region in international geopolitics.
Within this context Bako Sahakyan underlined peculiar role of developing relations with Argentine, which Artsakh considers as a friendly and fraternal state. President Sahakyan expressed gratitude to the Argentinean Republic for its attitude towards our compatriots and nation. According to Bako Sahakyan the state, which allowed our compatriots narrowly escaping from the 1915 Genocide and different persecutions find their new homeland here at the same time not forgetting the historical one deserves the highest appreciations.
Speaking of the history of the Artsakh issue the Head of the State noted that it emerged in when a state named Azerbaijan, which that never existed in history before, was formed in Transcaucasus with the immediate involvement of the Ottoman Turkey. Since the very first moment of its formation this new state put territorial claims before all the neighboring countries aiming to create a land border with the Ottoman Turkey and form a Pan-Turkish state.
Touching upon the Azerbaijani-Karabagh conflict settlement Bako Sahakyan underlined that the official Stepanakert stands exclusively for peaceful solution of all the questions with Azerbaijan through immediate dialogue. The President stressed that Artsakh's independence and security are excusive values for our people and cannot be subject to any speculations. The President considered the destructive stance of Azerbaijan, its extremist and belligerent anti-Armenian policy, carried out on the highest state level, as the pivotal obstacle in the negotiation process.
