S. Sargsyan: Turkey should repent for the sake of its people
Turkey should face its own history and it should do that for the sake of its own nation, said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan bringing Germany as an example on December 7 at the meeting with the Armenians of Marseilles.
“We are sure that Turkey should repent. It is neither a precondition, nor a striving for revenge. Turkey should face its own history. One day Turkey should find enough strength and should reassess its approach towards the Armenian Genocide. Our disposition is not changed and it is clear, we are ready to have normal relations with Turkey as it is decent to neighbouring countries,” the President said and has mentioned, “Poland and Germany were such neighbors too. The chancellor of Germany Willy Brandt realizing the crime its country has committed kneeled down at the Warsaw Ghetto. Sooner or later Turkey that thinks itself a European country will have a government apt to European one, which will bow its head in Tsitsernakaberd. Better it happens soon. However it is Turkish people’s business. We do not force them anything. They should do that for the sake of the Turkish people as Willy Brandt did for the sake of the German nation.”
