Jodie Foster's father jailed for 5 years
A judge has sentenced Jodie Foster's estranged father to five years in a Los Angeles jail for bilking more than $100,000 from poor and elderly people in a home-building scheme, cbsnews.com reports.
City attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said Lucius Foster was sentenced Friday, two days after he was convicted of 21 misdemeanor counts of grand theft. Lucius, an 89-year-old building contractor, has been jailed since Wednesday.
He was convicted of taking $5,000 each from people for whom he promised to build affordable homes made from cargo containers. The units were never built, and prosecutors said he blatantly lied to clients.
